On Saturday, June 28, the young men of TPH Cottage packed groceries for seniors, served meals and bussed tables at the 2nd Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen in Spartanburg, SC. The 5 youth, joined by Family Teacher Jim Cornelius and Christian Educator, Finley Sutton, worked from 9am to 1pm alongside the folks of Nazareth Presbyterian Church of Moore, SC. TPH was so inspired by their experience that they plan to make helping out at the soup kitchen a regular part of their mission work.

The ladies of Brophy Cottage volunteered their time on a very hot and humid Saturday to assist guests visiting Wee Scotland - a children's area within the Greater Greenville Scottish Games and Highland Festival, held annually at Furman University. The ladies helped the children make crafts, play games and participate in lots of activities to learn a little about the history of Scotland. Roy Tanner came along as the official 'Wee Scotland' photograper.

Many of Thornwell's youth had the opportunity to visit the Montreat Conference Center for Week II of the 2008, Throw Open the Doors, Youth Conference. They had a great time of fellowship, as they learned ways to share their faith with others. Youth from cottages Brophy, Sarah, Safay, Silliman, TPH and Bryan Mac were among those who enjoyed the benefits of this week of opportunity for spritual growth.

How does your garden grow? 'Very well, thank you!' say the gardeners at Silliman and Brophy Cottages. Corn, squash, peppers and cantalope are just a few of the vegetables they are enjoying from their well tended gardens this summer.
