A Heartwarming Reunion: State Representative Stewart Jones Inspires Young Minds at Thornwell Child Development Center

South Carolina State Representative Stewart Jones brought joy to young learners during a special visit to Thornwell Child Development Center, Friday morning. The atmosphere was warm and enthusiastic as Stewart connected with the children through the magic of storytelling.

During his visit, Stewart engaged with the children heartwarmingly, sharing the inspiring tale of ‘I’m (Almost) Always Kind’ by Anna Milbourne. The narrative, centered around themes of kindness and empathy, captivated the young minds, creating an unforgettable experience. The children, in turn, embraced Stewart with open hearts, expressing their appreciation through heartfelt hugs and high-fives.

Accompanying Stewart was SC First Steps Communications Coordinator Jabari Clyburn. In a delightful announcement, Jabari emphasized the significance of literature and shared the exciting news that each child would receive a personal copy of ‘I’m (Almost) Always Kind.’

Stewart Jones’s visit holds a special place in the hearts of the Thornwell community, as it is intertwined with deep-rooted generational ties. His grandmother, Margie Hudson Stewart, began her journey at Thornwell on Christmas Day in 1945, establishing a family legacy that has endured for nearly eight decades. Margie lived on the Thornwell campus until her high school graduation. Margie’s commitment to Thornwell inspired future generations, including Stewart’s mother, Valerie Stewart Jones, who dedicated over 20 years as a teacher at Thornwell, leaving an indelible mark on the education and well-being of its children.

Having personally experienced the transformative environment of Thornwell from kindergarten to high school graduation, Stewart emphasized the institution’s profound impact on his own life. The nurturing environment and quality education received at Thornwell continue to shape Stewart’s values and fuel his commitment to community service.

Representative Stewart Jones’s visit not only celebrated the institution’s rich past but also embraced the promise of the future. As a State Representative, Stewart recognizes the vital importance of investing in the well-being and education of the next generation. Thornwell, with its storied history and unwavering commitment to fostering a nurturing environment, remains a cornerstone in shaping the lives of children in the community.

As the legacy continues, Thornwell stands as a beacon of education, compassion, and kindness, illuminating the path for generations to come.
