Child Abuse Prevention Month

is held each April to increase awareness about the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect. Please pray for those who have or are suffering, and for those who continue the important work to help children and families stay safe and be strong.

Why the pinwheel?

The pinwheel symbolizes the carefree spirit of great childhoods, when children grow up happy, healthy, nurtured and safe.
Download and print the pattern below and make one to hang in your window, on a door, or post on social media.

How YOU can Support Child

Abuse Prevention

  1. Tell a friend about our free 4K Program which begins this Fall for qualifying families.
  2. Refer a family to our Building Families in-home program (available in GA, FL, and SC) which offers practical, hands-on tools to improve your child’s behavior and reduce your stress as a parent.
  3. Enjoy a free meal together and join a Strengthening Families workshop to learn parenting skills and strategies, while children work with a family specialist to learn about appropriate behavior.
  4. Become a foster parent. If you feel a tug at your heart, learn more about how you can provide a loving, safe home for a child in your community.
  5. Give to support Thornwell’s mission to support Child Abuse Prevention.

Thornwell is in partnership with Children’s Trust of South Carolina.
