Education Readiness
Remember the joy and excitement of back-to-school shopping? Inhaling the smell of a fresh box of crayons. The pep in your step from a new backpack on your shoulders. The baby blue binder, scuff-free, awaiting a new year’s notes and handouts. Starting the first day of school with a fully stocked bookbag also starts the year with a sense of readiness to learn.
For many of us, new pencils can make all the difference between dreading the next math problem and being excited to try it. Here at Thornwell, we are excited to offer this fresh start to the children and families we serve.
Many kids come to us several grade levels behind in their studies. As our education specialists help them catch up, offering brand-new school supplies is one of the ways we can build their confidence and desire to learn. Knowing they are worthy of a new notebook in their favorite color helps them realize that they are capable of succeeding in the classroom. It’s a way of showing that we truly believe it when we say, “You can do this!”
You can help us make a difference! I’d like to personally invite you to participate in our School Supply Drive to help children and families across our Foster Care, Residential, and Building Families programs succeed this Fall.
