Teen Mom Program
Raising children is hard enough, but trying to raise children while trying to complete high school and learning how to take care of yourself seems almost impossible.
More than 50% of teen mothers never graduate from high school, and less than 2% earn a college degree by age 30. Thornwell’s teen mom program is designed to support these young mothers and give them the stability and help they need to raise their children and pursue their academic goals.
Moms in the program are given a support system and surrounded with love on our family-style residential campus. They have access to tutoring, Read Right, and childcare support from our Child Development Center while they’re at school or work. They also participate in regular family education and therapy sessions that teach them what it means to be a mother at their age and give them practical tips on how to care for their babies.
Moms also receive:
- Therapy and emotional support
- Financial management and budget training
- Workforce readiness tools and job training
- Parenting classes
