Materials:
1. Heart-shaped wreath form – cut from repurposed cereal box or chipboard
2. Abundance of red and pink tissue paper squares
3. White glue
4. Paintbrush
5. Pencil with eraser
6. Ribbon or string for hanging
7. Embellishments – pom-poms, sequins, etc. (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Set Up Your Crafting Area
Cover your crafting area with newspaper or a disposable tablecloth to make cleanup easier.
Step 2: Craft the Wreath Base
Cut out a heart-shaped wreath form from a repurposed cereal box or posterboard. This will serve as the foundation for your tissue paper heart wreath.
Step 3: Prepare Glue-Water Mixture
In a small bowl, combine equal parts white glue and water to create a glue mixture, making it easier to evenly spread the glue on the wreath.
Step 4: Apply Glue to the Wreath
Using a paintbrush, apply a small amount of the glue mixture to a section of the wreath. Work on smaller areas of the wreath at a time to prevent the glue from drying before placing the tissue paper squares.
Step 5: Position Tissue Paper Squares
Press the eraser side of a pencil into the center of a tissue paper square, using it to position the square onto the glued section of the wreath form. Repeat this process, slightly overlapping the squares, until the entire section is covered. Continue this method section by section until the entire wreath form is adorned with tissue paper squares.
Step 6: Allow to Dry
Allow the wreath to dry completely. This may take some time, so be patient.
Step 7: Optional Embellishments
For added flair, attach pom-poms, sequins, or other embellishments to your wreath. Unleash your creativity and let your imagination run free.
Step 8: Attach Ribbon or String for Hanging
Once the wreath is thoroughly dry and decorated to your satisfaction, affix a ribbon or string to the back for hanging.
Step 9: Showcase Your Tissue Paper Heart Wreath
Display your beautifully crafted tissue paper heart wreath on a door, wall, or any place where you wish to spread some Valentine’s Day cheer.
Tips:
– Depending on the crafter’s age and patience level, consider breaking the project into multiple sessions.
– Alternatively, decorate a smaller heart cut from the center of your wreath form for a quicker project, ideal for younger crafters.
