Echoes of Creativity: Celebrating Young Artists at Thornwell’s Child Development Center

Creativity was on full display at Thornwell’s Child Development Center during the Echoes of Creativity Art Show. The community gathered to celebrate the creativity and imagination of the CDC’s youngest learners—and what a celebration it was. Children beamed as they pointed out the masterpieces they made this year to family and friends.

The hallways and classrooms were filled with vibrant colors, thoughtful displays, and proud smiles. Teachers dedicated countless hours to guiding children through each project, and their care and intention were evident in every piece. Each work of art told a story.

You could definitely identify some young artists,” said Thornwell’s First Lady Anna Wilkins, an artist herself.

Parents and grandparents “oohed” and “aahed” as they explored the exhibit, celebrating not just the artwork, but the growth behind it. Events like this highlight the strong sense of community at the CDC—where families come together to support and encourage children as they grow.

At Thornwell’s CDC, art is more than just a fun activity — it is a vital part of early childhood development. Through art, children can explore new ideas, build fine motor skills, and develop confidence in their ability. These are not just art projects — they are so much more!

Children who are 4 years old on or before September 1 are eligible to apply. The 4K program runs during normal school hours (7:30 am – 2:30 pm), with an after-school option available until 4:30 pm.
