When you partner with us, you help make a difference in the lives of children and families.
Boundless impact. Boundless love.
Volunteers make a boundless impact in the lives of those Thornwell serves because they give the gift of themselves. There’s no greater act of love than that.
Your gifts are not limited by physical distance! You can make a difference by serving right from where you are. We always need and welcome volunteers, as we run on love and donations, and there’s a special place in our ministry for your donations of time and talent.

When you take a tour, you’re walking in the footsteps of our founder, Dr. Jacobs.

There are more than 4,400 children in foster care across South Carolina, and only 2,800 foster homes. That means nearly 1,600 children have no place to call home. We are on a mission to change that.
Thornwell provides safe, family-like homes to support trauma recovery and healing for foster children while their families cope with crises and receive services to safely resume caring for their children. We also help place children who have no relatives to care for them with loving foster families. With ever-present shortages of foster care homes, we believe that, together, we can provide relief for many of the children who are waiting.

You can be part of our growing community of foster care advocates who are committed to loving children from hard places. Whether it’s opening our homes, providing meals, prayer, or financial support, we all have something to offer—and children and families in foster care need all of us!
