Providence Presbyterian’s Spa Night at Thornwell Spreading Joy and Confidence
At Thornwell, we are continually inspired by the generosity and creativity of those who support our mission. This past August, a small group of women from Providence Presbyterian Church in Powdersville, visited Thornwell for a tour. What began as a simple visit quickly became a heartwarming story of community and compassion.
During their tour, these women gained a deeper understanding of the work we do at Thornwell to empower children and families. Inspired by their experience, they returned home determined to make a difference. Their first act of kindness was organizing a school supply drive to ensure that our children had the tools they needed for academic success. But their journey of generosity didn’t stop there.
The women invited one of our team members, Rachel Crescibene, to share a “minute for mission” at their church, followed by a shared meal. This gathering deepened the connection between Providence Presbyterian Church and Thornwell, sparking a beautiful idea to bless the girls in our cottages with an unforgettable evening.
These ladies put their hearts into planning and hosting a spa night for our girls and female residential staff. The evening was a delightful mix of pampering, celebration, and love. It began with a pancake breakfast for dinner—made even better with an array of delicious toppings. Laughter and excitement filled the air as the girls moved through various stations offering facials, nail care, bracelet-making, makeup, hair braiding, and more.
As the evening drew to a close, everyone gathered around a dessert bar overflowing with sweet treats. The night ended with door prizes, sending the girls home with smiles and cherished memories.
This act of kindness exemplifies the power of community and the difference it can make in the lives of children. At Thornwell, we are deeply grateful to the women of Providence Presbyterian Church for using their time and talents to create a moment of joy and connection for our girls.
Their story serves as a reminder that small acts of kindness when done with love, can have a lasting impact.
