The Colors of Hope | Painting a New Future for Emma

Emma’s teenage years should be about self-discovery. Without caring people like you to help, she’s on a path to self-destruction.
If you’re like me, you have core childhood memories that make you smile. How wonderful it was to grow up feeling loved and ready to take on the world!
But I am deeply troubled by how hard it is for young people growing up today.
My heart hurts when I think of Emma, a 15-year-old girl who recently came to Thornwell, relying heavily on drugs and self-harm to cope with years of trauma and neglect .
Can you imagine? Unfortunately, this is often how children come to us today. Things have certainly changed since you and I were young.
Emma needs a miracle. When donors give, they become the miracle in the lives of children like Emma who deserve to overcome their suffering.
Emma doesn’t know what an innocent childhood is like. She was forced into adulthood long before she was ready by people who were supposed to love her, and she’s paying the price of that prolonged abuse. She doesn’t trust adults. Sometimes, she doesn’t even trust herself.
Her life has been anything but fair. Together, we can change that.
By supporting Thornwell, you help ensure that Emma is surrounded by the hope, love, and therapeutic care that she desperately needs and deserves! Compassionate gifts can provide a safe, caring home, tutoring, nutritious meals, and necessary therapy tailored to support Emma and other suffering children. You can help bring healing to a child’s mind, body, and spirit.
Support helps Emma believe she is worthy of love and has the tools to fulfill her God-given potential! Loyal, dedicated giving ensures that she’s safe and not alone.
I recently sat in on one of the art therapy sessions that Emma and many of our children can participate in, thanks to our community. Emma splashed her canvas with so much color and life. For the first time, I saw something powerful move in her – a core childhood memory locked in through a love of art.
It got me thinking: If Emma’s life were a canvas, it would likely be filled with dark, scary, oppressive, and sad hues. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. YOU can help! Today, you can bring color and light into Emma’s life –
Streaks of sunshine yellow from the warmth of your kindness.
Waves of serene blue from the peace she can feel knowing she is loved.
Flashes of bright white and rich purple as she is cloaked in the love of Jesus.
This is the power of giving. Because of you, Emma doesn’t have to hurt anymore
