Thornwell Expands Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program Launching June 1st with New Mobile Pickup Locations Beginning June 9

As summer begins, Thornwell is once again helping ensure children and families have access to healthy meals through its Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program launching June 1st — and this year, the organization is expanding the program even further with TWO new mobile pickup locations launching June 9.

The 2026 Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program officially begins on June 1 at Thornwell Dining Hall, where families can pick up free breakfast and lunch meal packs for qualifying children, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

📍 Thornwell Dining Hall
302 South Broad Street
Clinton, SC 29325

Then, beginning June 9, Thornwell will expand the program into the community through two new mobile meal pickup sites designed to make access even easier for families who may face transportation or scheduling challenges.

The new mobile pickup locations include:

📍 Lydia Mill Mobile Pickup Location — Tuesdays | 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
United Way Building
16 Peachtree Street
Clinton, SC

📍 Thornwell Charter School East Campus Mobile Pickup — Thursdays | 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
600 E. Florida Street
Clinton, SC

Families utilizing the mobile sites will be able to pick up seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch meals for eligible children in their household.

“Launching our campus meal program on June 1 allows us to begin serving families immediately, and the addition of two mobile locations on June 9 is an exciting next step in expanding our reach,” said Alice James, Director of Child Nutrition. “We want families to know that support is available and that Thornwell is committed to meeting children where they are.”

Since its launch in 2020, Thornwell’s Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program has served more than 200,000 meals to children and families throughout the region. What began as a response to community need has grown into a vital summer resource that continues to evolve to better serve local families.

The expanded mobile model reflects Thornwell’s commitment to increasing food accessibility while helping ensure children remain healthy, nourished, and ready to thrive throughout the summer months.
