Thornwell Ranked #15 Among Best Places to Work in South Carolina

The award recognizes “best-in-class” examples of positive workplace cultures producing results.

Thornwell, a nonprofit organization committed to serving children and families, is honored to be named once again as one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina, ranking 15th in the state in the medium employer category for 2026.

The recognition marks Thornwell’s continued presence among South Carolina’s top employers, marking its 4th year earning this recognition and a significant rise from its #26 ranking in 2025. The annual program recognizes employers across the Palmetto State based on workplace policies, practices, programs, and, importantly, employee feedback about their experience and organizational culture.

For more than 150 years, Thornwell has worked alongside children and families to help them build strong, thriving futures. Employees make that work possible by bringing compassion, expertise, and a shared commitment to Thornwell’s mission each day.

“This recognition belongs to the remarkable people who make Thornwell what it is,” said Thornwell President and CEO, Rev. Myron Wilkins. “Every day, our team brings compassion, excellence, and a deep sense of purpose to the work of serving children and families. To be recognized again, and to see Thornwell rise among South Carolina’s best workplaces, is especially meaningful because it reflects the experience and voices of our own employees. I am incredibly grateful for the way they care for one another, for the families we serve, and for this mission we share. They are the heart of Thornwell, and I could not be prouder to serve alongside them.”

The Best Places to Work in South Carolina awards program is presented by SC Biz News in partnership with Best Companies Group. Participating organizations complete a two-part assessment process that evaluates workplace policies, practices, and demographics alongside an employee survey measuring the employee experience. Best Companies Group manages the registration and survey process, analyzes the data, and determines the final rankings.

The 2026 honorees were recognized during an awards ceremony on August 25 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, where Thornwell was announced as the #15 Best Place to Work among medium-sized employers in South Carolina.

SC Biz News will also publish the rankings. For more information about the Best Places to Work in South Carolina program, visit BestPlacesToWorkSC.com.
